~Two Local Favourites~
30th October 2011
A better day than yesterday and I decided to take a walk to Wycoller.
Carriers Row, Laneshawbridge
Scroll down for photos and a description of the walk....
Ball Grove
I parked at Ball Grove, Cotton Tree - near Trawden and set off for Wycoller - a direct route following Colne Water eastwards.
Upper Ball Grove
A nature reserve for birds and the like. This route is The Ferndean Way and is a permissive footpath.
Colne Water
Looking back in the Colne direction from one of the bridges closer to Laneshawbridge.
Carriers Row, Laneshawbridge
High Laith Beck flows from the north to join Wycoller Beck - their confluence becomes Colne Water.
Fields to Wycoller
Such a familiar sight! I've probably walked this route more often than I've climbed Pendle Hill.
Laneshawbridge
Looking back, the houses belong to Keighley Road in Laneshawbridge.
Wycoller Pack-Horse Bridge
I found a camera angle which allowed for a photograph of the bridge without cars or people. Or did I?
The Duck Pond
Wycoller Hall
The Clapper Bridge
I suppose a good enough reason for this walk was the opportunity for a look at Wycoller in Autumn.
Tree
Duck
I took the same route back to the car at Ball Grove. With time to spare, I drove off in the direction of another local landmark.
Pendle over Black Moss
I generally offer a view of the reservoirs from Pendle, so here is a rare glimpse of the reverse.
Pendle Ascent
It was too good an opprtunity to miss, particularly after yesterday's rain. The gentleman here and I compared notes. He was heading up the track and I was going up the steps. Who would get to the top first - I am about 30 years younger than he?
Black Moss Reservoirs
The arrow points to roughly the place from where I took the earlier photo of Pendle Hill.
Pendle Summit
The weather is good, but the sunset is a little watery. I reached the top just a couple of minutes before Lawrence, who has walked from Rimmington and is on his way back there. New route, Richard?

Walkers: Just Me
I'll leave out all the trivia after these two walks, taking a rest from the usual stuff.
Take me back to the start ....
